#leeum_exhibition 《장영규: 추종자》 2022. 9. 2.(금) – 2023. 9. 3.(일) 강당 라운지 리움에서는 미술과 대중의 거리를 좁히고자 전시장 뿐만 아니라 미술관 곳곳에 작품을 감상할 수 있는 공간을 마련해왔습니다. 다양한 관람객 프로그램이 진행되는 강당 옆 라운지도 그런 공간 중 하나입니다. 장영규의 <추종자>는 판소리 전수 과정을 담은 아카이브 음원 작업입니다. 판소리를 배울 때 제자는 스승의 노랫소리를 녹음해서 들으며 연습하고, 다시 자신의 노래를 녹음해서 들어보는 과정을 반복합니다. 이 작품은 여러 스승과 제자가 부른 판소리 다섯마당의 일부와 판소리를 부르기 전에 목을 풀기 위해 부르는 짧은 노래인 단가(短歌) 연습 과정을 담은 음원 24개로 구성되어 있습니다. 작품은 테이블에 설치된 24개의 잭에 헤드폰 플러그를 꽂아서 감상할 수 있는데, 이처럼 아날로그적인 감상 방식은 사람에서 사람으로 직접 전수되는 판소리 사사 방식과 닮아있습니다. 가구 디자인으로 협업한 푸하하하 프렌즈(@fhhhfriends)는 2019년 ‘젊은 건축가상’을 받은 건축사 사무소로, 사운드 작업의 외피가 되어주는 의자와 테이블을 디자인했습니다. 앉았을 때 마치 스프링처럼 조금씩 진동하는 의자는 소리가 진동이라는 사실을 다시금 상기시키며, 청각적 떨림을 몸 전체로 느껴지는 신체 감각으로 확대합니다. #장영규작가 #장영규음악감독 #푸하하하프렌즈 《Jang Young Gyu: Follower 》 September 2, 2022 – September 3, 2023 Auditorium Lounge Leeum Museum of Art presents Follower, a sound project by Jang Young Gyu, in the auditorium lounge. The lounge is a space for short breaks in between various programs that go on in the auditorium. Follower consists of twenty-four recordings of ’pansori‘ lessons. ’Pansori‘ is a traditional Korean genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer. When learning ’pansori‘, students record the lessons and repeatedly listen to them, in order to the learn the masters’ teaching. The clips contain various students and masters, collected over decades, and one can sometimes track a singer’s development over the years. The tables and benches that lend physical casing to the archival clips are designed by @fhhhfriends, an atelier of architects. The benches gently reverberate when the viewer’s weight touches their surface, reminding us that sound is in fact, vibration.
