When you have visited a Museum as a young woman and you are suddenly standing decades later in front of your own artwork, it is the most humbling but also surreal experience. Knowing that I have created something purely out of the need to express and process emotions within my possibilities of social commentary, something what has produced dialogues, questions, interviews, articles, essays, connections and resonated on so many different vibrancies with people who have the chance to see the work in person, it makes me believe I can go anywhere. While growing up in Europe the @tate became for me ‘the museum of the museums’ and I am insanely grateful for the beautiful support of @oseibonsu_ , the African acquisition team of Tate Modern @tate and my dear gallery @marianeibrahimgallery to bring it into the permanent collection. I have a special admiration for @zoe.whitley who introduced the piece to the museum, thank you for believing in me dear Zoe!! I also have to thank my chosen home Ghana and those dear friends and colleagues on my side working and helping in all these years, without you I would not be anywhere near this. Take the chance to see ‘When We Were Queens And Kings” currently installed until March 2023 in Tate Modern. Infinity love - always. Zohra ♥️
