Here is a letter of love and power to my Puerto Ricans. ❤️💪🏾🇵🇷 @officemagazinenyc #DirectedByVice A real document of Boricua Pride, and Afro/Indingous African Royalty. This day is for you, it was a day created for you to raise your voice. Not one built with brand campaigns that only support us during “Boricua Day”, but to Familia on the homeland. To the Tias and Tios we call from across the waters, to the recipes we cook written on ancient papers. A love letter to every Trans and Queer person who was brave enough to be visible in their homeland, and to all the others who were brave enough to spread that visibility elsewhere. You are Indiignous, and therefore your royalty bleeds through generations of warriors that lead you here. This Puerto Rican day, realize that we are alive to see our power, and it's our duty to be louder and prouder than ever. - I made this series based off of Abolition. A concept of defunding the government ran police departments and redistributing those tax dollars to trained workers to tackle specific human needs. The issue in both the states and the homeland is that the Police and the Government have yet to see us as people worth protecting. This lack of trans protection is not even a money issue...it's an ethics issue[...] - [...]It doesn't matter if you are on the island, or in the states, you are Puerto Rican and you are strong. We over through our governor, we over through our president, and there is nothing we can not do if we come together. We don't wait for the states to keep us safe, we keep us safe. This safety starts with love, intersectionality, unbiased community gathering, and living. So this Puerto Rican day, I want you to be as Loud, Black, Trans, Classic, Indiginous, and as Boricua as you can. For the friends we lost, they live through us so make it worth it (read more in bio)
