Coach Beam, Words cannot express how grateful I am for God intertwining our paths in this life and everything that you did for me. As 17 year old kid about to graduate high school I had just lost my father. I felt lost and unsure of what direction to go in life. I knew I wanted to continue to play the game I loved but was deflated nobody came calling. You did. I remember the day you called me and introduced yourself. You didn't promise me anything except an opportunity. You said any coach that promises you more than that is full of shit. At Laney I could continue to grow, learn and that I had the ability to play somewhere if I did those things and work my ass off. That conversation and opportunity changed my life. You gave me what you promised and so much more. You were a mentor, father figure, friend and football coach when I needed it most. You were incredibly hard on me but loved on me even harder. You made practice so difficult, the games felt like a breeze. We shared meetings rooms, workouts and gamedays for three years straight. Then when I moved to Tennessee you always called to check in and would meet me when you would come in town for the coaching convention. Your impact was and still is beyond measure for thousands of people. For me it altered the trajectory of my life. You gave me an opportunity that allowed me to receive a free education, meet my wife, have three sons and so much more. I teach my sons lessons that you taught me and they will know who it came from. Thank you for believing in me Coach. We will meet again one day and I have no doubt when we meet, you will be smackin some carrots and say "Holy smokes brother." Love you forever. #laneybuilt
