WHILST THE PANDEMIC and having breast cancer again was not fun, it did give me the opportunity to build and make new friendships. One of those was with @proffelicejacka and I was absolutely touched that she was able to make time in her busy schedule to have lunch with me. For those of you who don’t know her, she is one of the leading lights in nutritional psychiatry and her seminal research has shown food can support with mood, anxiety and depression (SMILES trial 2017). Her first book ‘Brain Changer’ is a practical and evidence based guide to supporting your brain and mental health whilst her second book ‘ The Zoo in my Poo’ is for children.

Felice has not only been a good friend but an advisor and supporter through what was one of the most difficult times in my life. As someone who took an alternative path into academic research, she’s offered me some real wisdom and I’m so proud to have friends like this in different countries, especially when they are so busy changing the world.

So what did we have for lunch? We started with a riff on @mariaelia9 peach and tomato soup followed by pecan dukkah wild salmon and the salad that you see - packed with nutrients that support your brain and reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence; spinach, borlotti beans, roasted squash, broccoli sprouts, pomegranate with a pomegranate and black seed oil dressing. Thank you Felice and safe travels!
