con amor y honor — siempre. this is my bisabuela. we’re sitting on the front porch of her house in río piedras, puerto rico. fortunately, the house has stayed in the family and my little cousin gets to grow up there now. my great-grandmother didn’t speak english, so we couldn’t communicate that well linguistically as i grew up in an english household. instead, she’d hold my cheeks with her hands and repeat “que bella, que bella” with so much adoration. today i honor her alongside all the others who have passed. today my dad reminded me that we honor them by living well + lovingly in our current life, and to always remember la cultura. 💘 feliz día de los muertos a todxs
