It’s always a surreal moment for me when I step out onto the court with the greatest women hoopers to have ever laced em up!! When I arrived in NY in 99 as a free agent my goal was to not get cut. Every day I’d say to myself, “not today, you’re not cutting me today”, that turned into 8 years and led to another great 8 years in San Antonio. It wasn’t till later that I learned that I was never supposed to make it, or be there in a Liberty uniform. Nobody told me my chances of making that roster was like one is a million... sooooo you’re telling me there’s a chance??!! 😁 that’s all I needed- a chance, and the W gave me that opportunity!! Obviously as my career started to take off goals, dreams, expectations for my career also took off!! I miss playing everyday!! Basketball was my first love in life- basketball has been my passion, my serenity, my safe place, my study room, and both my dream maker and dream chaser!! Hoops have taken me literally around the world, introduced me to some of the kindest people on the planet, took me thru very low and disappointing moments, and gave me the highest highs that are difficult to even articulate!! My childhood dreams with basketball were too small, and I’m grateful that basketball has loved me back in so many ways. It’s birthed dreams in me that always SEEMED impossible- until they weren’t. It’s allowed me to grow, be stretched, be challenged, be crushed and be victorious. I’m both thankful and humbled by this journey we’ve been on- who knew it would turn out like this?? To all the peeps who have gotten passed over, not picked (drafted), and flat out not supposed to be here— it doesnt matter what THEY think about you, it matters what YOU think about you!! Anything can happen when you work hard, try harder and don’t give up!!
