Connection belongs to those who get to instead of have to. I’ve always found taking portraits to be an incredibly personal and vulnerable experience. There is a trust that I want people to feel when they work with me, a confidence and knowing that I am doing the best I can to make someone look like their best. When people commission me for a project, I spend time stepping into their lives, sharing a connection, establishing what they value and then figuring out how to best represent them, thenn we start taking pictures, finding the best angles, perfecting the lighting situation, getting some nice music going, editing, cropping, culling, color grading and so on. Every aspect of it is important and the process of creating photos for me is cathartic and extremely fulfilling. All the time spent practicing, learning and growing is all because I am obsessively passionate and grateful to contribute photography to the world and my community.
