Night 7 @fillmoredetroit as a Dilla head playing in The D was a bucket list moment. I’ve always wanted to see the city that brought up my favorites. Stevie.. Diana.. the list goes on. Show was fun. Ride back to hotel @realkashm3r3 gave me some Detroit history / played all the Dilla classics on the way there. When I got to hotel .. the front desk (a local producer who goes by @queveman) welcomes me with “I fuck with your music”. Lots of conversations from the car to the hotel about needing to work together vs compete apart during times like this, putting those efforts of positivity into our music, putting that language into our communities, doing that bridge work between different communities, just like our greats taught us how. Leaving The D today knowing I’ll be back to check in on friends new and old. It was a good reminder to stay connected to everyone music puts you in touch with.
