It’s Women’s history month and I’m honored to be sharing space with these incredible women currently making history in Jazz. We stand on the shoulders of so many women that came before us. Some whose names we all know and some we don’t. They broke glass ceilings, opened doors, made connections, offered mentorship and built community. Now it’s our turn. This was a night I surely won’t forget. The camaraderie. The authenticity. The love. The absence of competitiveness. The genuine nurturing and cheering each other on. The TALENT! The older I get and the more opportunities I have to work and exist in environments lead by women, the more I realize how much the world needs more of this today. Queens @melaniecharlesisdflower and @yuniemo created something that’s more than a podcast or a concert, it’s a movement. Grateful to both of them for creating a space for women in Jazz to thrive and have community, it’s so needed.
