I started this conceptual paintings series about 9 months ago... The concept was to try to capture magick by performing rituals & ceremonies surrounding that idea.... As I have never really dived too far into painting I was nervous about it, but it felt reassuring being able to explore painting with a very specific plan & with chosen colors & symbols that represent different energies... By working within these rules & rituals I knew the work would have innate meaning & structure. I then sealed that structure into the canvas by completely painting over what was created during the ceremony...🖤 I sat with these sealed energetic works for a long time, almost scared to go further as I felt the task was complete and the talisman was set... ⚡️ upon sitting with the work for months, almost frightened to make a move, I finally allowed myself to start to express some of the emotions behind wanting to create the work and finally tried to allow myself to be free... I realize this letting go is the actual alchemy & magick of the work & of my personal “work”.... To get lost in freedom, & time, & that energetic connectivity we all crave & to feel something larger than than self.✨that is the true Magick✨
