⁣One of my favorite parts of fellowship has been our pro bono work with survivors of human trafficking through laser removal of their branding tattoos! 💙 Victims of human trafficking are often branded by their traffickers with tattoos of names, initials, symbols, and even barcodes to convey ownership. It’s been an incredible use our unique skills to help these survivors safely remove their tattoos and reclaim ownership of their bodies!⁣ ⁣ Although we’ve been working primarily with trafficking survivors local to our practice in Houston, as part of @drpaulmfriedman’s upcoming presidency of @ASLMSmeeting, we are hoping to establish a national directory of board certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons willing to help with this cause! 💕 Big thank you to @drkream, @stoptrafficwalk_sandiego, and @shelteredalliance for helping us with laying the ground work for this important project!⁣ ⁣ January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
