Feeling the love (read: I have a MASSIVE head now) after my interview with Ranvir on @lorraine this morning. If you watched it and are new here, HELLO! WELCOME! There is never really enough time to go into much depth during these interviews - although I’m v grateful I got to say the word “turd” at least 3 times, talk about the book, boobs and my new podcast. But I want to make something super clear: GAT is not a sickly sweet account of how to be positive when life is really really shit. It’s an honest account of one person living with cancer for an exceptional amount of time. Positivity is great but it’s not a stand alone cure for cancer. I make no bold claims about how to “do” cancer or indeed how to “do” life. I think that’s entirely up to the individual to figure out and there is a lot of beauty in that discovery. I do, however, wish someone like me had been around when I was diagnosed to show me that it was possible to live not only long, but well, and happily, with cancer. Life is full of turds, I know that, you know that, but if we can get through it, maybe battered, maybe bruised, but also hope-full, happy, content, with some semblance of peace, then I think we’ve done a pretty bloody good job and we can count ourselves so lucky. Ok. Now go buy the book and tell me what you think. I will be waiting...... #glitteringaturd #alivetodothosethings
