I started researching for an upcoming film concept while on Oahu last month @bishopmuseum — which is absolutely worth the visit to learn more about the brilliance of Polynesian culture— art, food, sport, play, wayfinding. They exhibit some of the earliest known surf photos. There’s an especially beautiful exhibit running currently about The Healing Stones of @kapaemahu that illuminates the long lineage of gender fluidity in Polynesia. If you make an appointment you can also book into the archives and dig into the myriad volumes and research housed there. It’s an incredible resource just 45 minutes from the north shore. #surfnerd
