i turned 29 in october (i am a libra woman). in celebration, I gathered in a way that felt authentic to me. i brought 30 of my girlfriends together for a private dance / workout class at one of my favorite places @goodmoveny and had one of my best friends, @_googsi , instruct the juiciest most nourishing workshop ever — we crafted the perfect playlist and let it rip. i danced. i cried. i sat present. i moved my body. i looked around and thought “holy shit i am so fkn loved not by luck but by choice” i know how to fill up rooms with really incredible people, in fact i think it’s one of my strongest traits. i attract really good people into my life and i’m so grateful for that. after the workshop, we shuffled over to my apartment on a really beautiful sunny saturday. i had everyone over for ‘Cafe Emily’. Feeding people + having them in my space is my love language. One of my sweetie pie best gals @jacey.adler played barista while i got to be present in every single conversation i had with people i loved and cared about. the room was full of new and old friends. ranging from life long homies, and internet pals. i truly think female friendship is one of the richest things in my life - without a doubt. at the beginning of class with eyes full of water, i let everyone know i was arriving as emily and simply that. so often i am the host, the facilitator, the space holder but on my bday celebration i got to show up and Be right along with everyone else. and it meant a lot to me. at the end i got my pals in a circle. Classic! we went around and shared something we each were celebrating presently. then i light the candles to my cake, and blew my candles out in celebration of it all. most years, i throw myself some kind of birthday party - because i want everyone i know to know each other. i want everyone i love to be in the same space. and wow it’s awesome. i’m excited for my last year of my 20’s and am ready to embrace it but i just know how good 30 is going to look on me and i cannot wait to see what is to come while living presently in what is right here. right now.
