Barbara Hepworth, like Mother and Child 1933. ❤️ #ArtWords: Biomorphic artworks are abstract but refer to or evoke living forms, like plants or the human body. 🍃 The word is derived from the Greek words bios (life) and morphe (form) and came into use around the 1930s to describe abstract types of surrealist painting and sculpture. It is often seen in the organic, fluid curves of Barbara Hepworth's sculptures. The motif of the mother and child recurs frequently in Hepworth’s work during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
