Iron as the matter, fire as the element, passion as the driver, sculpture as the challenge, Nino as the alter ego that tells of Paolo. The creative universe of Paolo Mezzadri has its roots in the artisan tradition of his grandfather who was a blacksmith and specialised in wrought iron. Then, it has taken shape in the family business of processing sheet metal and it has been nurtured by the fantastical images that sprang into the mind of the artist/craftsman who, since childhood, dreamed of being an explorer archaeologist. His work as an entrepreneur and his education, “made up of numbers, formulas, straight lines and parallels”, as he says, “were eating Paolo up a little bit at a time”.
