Two VERY special people (you know who you are) brought me here and I’ll never be more grateful for the warmth and wonder of this place they’ve shown me. When I decided in late May I was going to open up two restaurants on a small island in Maine in July I didn’t think about how I’d have to coordinate most of it from Europe, or the motorcycle accident I’d have three days before opening, and all the different types of vehicles I’d need to make this work; but then it’s all okay, because there are these exceptional moments. Moments where I feel so proud of my incredible team, or that moment a man showed up on our doorstep the day before we opened and offered to make us a sign, or the quite moments while I take the boat from the island I’m living on to the island where the restaurants are. And in all these marked moments my crazy idea is actually coming together, and I’m falling for this place — fast.
