We visit the working studio of Johnny Electric of record and zine store, Ride On Super Sound.⁣ ⁣ “Throughout our entire conversation, I have been holding a broken stylus that was passed to me back in the garage, fished out of a chaotic tableau of polycarbonate curls and scraps of steel, green fibres, and fabric offcuts from his partner Steven’s work that have been doused in lighter fluid and used to remove any adhesive left by the PC backing. There’s half-finished springs, and coils of copper of several varying gauges, and boxes and boxes and boxes labelled in all caps; some coming, some going, and some looking like they’re going to stay a while. A screwdriver for jimmying records off the machine, myriad tapes and clamps for holding things in place, Prince’s iconic album cover for 1988’s Lovesexy stuck, as a poster, to the back of the door.
