That’s a wrap! Thanks to everyone who came to see 'Paper' by David Horan over LDF. The collection, including the opportunity for custom commissions, is sold exclusively via Béton Brut. For more details email [email protected] Pricing info to be released next week. 🙏🏻 ~ ‘Paper’ is the inaugural furniture and lighting collection of London-based designer David Horan, who formerly cut his cloth with Faye Toogood and Michael Anastassiades before opening his own studio in 2021. Designed exclusively with Béton Brut gallery, the collection sees Horan as a modern decoupeur, applying his material to an original series of works: a daybed, seating, a coffee table and lighting. Informed by French craft traditions of decoupage and the Japanese Mingei movement, Horan innovates with layering handmade paper to create a new applied ‘vegan vellum’ and ‘dragon skin’. ‘Vegan vellum’ is made of Kozuke and Mingeshi paper. The ‘Rain’ lampshades come from a UNESCO heritage mill, using invasive mulberry. In the rest of the series - the ‘Dragon skin’ pieces are made from vintage Sekishu, a Unesco heritage kozo paper, reclaimed from the giant dragons of Kagura dance-theatre. Even the upholstery is paper... @betonbrutlondon x @david__horan at @l_d_f_official @brompton_design_district @janewithers.london Photographed by @genevievelutkin With thanks to @altyn_upholstery and Mineo Kato
