Talking to kids about their bodies, puberty, and big feelings can feel intimidating especially when most of us didn’t have those conversations growing up.
Many of us are figuring this out as we go learning how to open up space for honest conversations and it doesn’t have to be a big, one-time “talk.”
It’s actually the little moments that build trust and body confidence over time when we respond to curiosity with facts instead of shutting it down, when we name things clearly instead of using vague nicknames, when we make it normal to talk about periods, erections, changes, and emotions.
And when we model that it’s okay not to know something we teach them it’s safe to ask, to learn, and to grow.
Inspired by this week’s convo on the Voices of Your Village podcast with @sexpositive_families founder Melissa Pintor Carnagey. Their new book Growing Into You is a must-have for every home.
