My cover story for @avenueinsider of the ANNA PEI, photo by Matthew Avignone. Anna is I.M. Pei's granddaughter, and she is a true gem. I told her how growing up in the DC area, my family would go to the National Gallery of Art East Wing, and her grandfather became my introduction to architecture. I would gaze at that breathtaking building as a child and think "someone MADE that happen? And these people are called...architects?" Anyway, I loved meeting Anna and talking to her about her Ode (her archival business), surviving school cruelties, her hot boyfriend, her lasting friendships, and her very strong bond with her late grandfather.
