Turning an insult into a badge of honor. 👊🏽 'Wij werken voor onze centen' is Dutch for saying: 'We work for our money'. It's a phrase used by the alderman for culture in Antwerp in an interview calling artists and culture workers profiteers and hobbyists. It is the latest debacle in a series of insults and indifferences after cutting project subsidies for young artists for three years and the collective resign of the city poets. Let's remember state officials are paid with taxpayers' money. The same money we get for 'doing our job' which turns out to be so much more than what we are actually paid for.
