Welcome to the September issue of #fromthearchives! The month of September is a quite special in terms of fashion. Summer trends are coming to an end and more clothes like coats, hats, gloves and boots can be sold now, as it ́s getting colder. Designers fight for a spot in the grand September issue, as this is THE month. In addition, the Fashion Week season comes to an end in Berlin, London, Paris, New York and Milan, and there is always great coverage on the street styles taken during the different shows. Therefore, it is not surprising that the @voguefrance September issue from 1979 comprises no less than 552 pages filled with the latest fashion trends. For this issue, #Newton has shot an editorial for warm winter coats. It is quite noticeable that this shooting still contains a lot of fur material. Which is rarely represented in today's fashion magazines, compared to the fashion of the 20th century. Also, the last pages show a woman breastfeeding in public. Which is interesting, since the debate about breastfeeding in public is more discussed today than ever before. Women are being thrown out of shops and stared at and harassed in public today and Newton addresses this in his photographs 50 years ago. Whether #Newton wanted to raise the attention or just wanted to shock a bit is unclear.
