Danielle Deadwyler: Object-Subject: Flaw is the Only Recourse Curator-Mentor: Tiona Nekkia McClodden November 4 - December 15, 2021 Please join us for a conversation between artist Danielle Deadwyler and curator-mentor Tiona Nekkia McClodden in conjunction with Deadwyler’s solo exhibition, Object-Subject: Flaw is the Only Recourse. The exhibition consists of three bodies of work: a short film, titled CHOR(E)S; the lenticularities, a series of 232 self portraits; and 3 lenticularities posters overlaid with text from the 1881 Atlanta Washerwoman Manifesto. Together, these bodies of work explore what bell hooks calls “that act of speech, of ‘talking back,’ that is no mere gesture of empty words, that is the expression of our movement from object to subject — the liberated voice.”
