What an honor & thrill to be part of the @directorsguild Women’s Committees’ panel on SCOTUS overturning Roe. Directors @rlgoldenberg (Unpregnant), @dawnporter (Trapped) & Tia Lessin @emma_helene (The Janes), who all made excellent films about abortion & w/whom I’ve been lucky to collaborate in different ways, discussed how & why they made these films. I talked about the tremendous impact their films have on normalizing abortion & urged them to tell stories that reflect the current harsh reality of accessing abortion in America, especially of those people who are most impacted by bans & have long faced systemic barriers to care. After the panel, the directors spoke passionately about Roe & how they can fight back individually & collectively. These conversations give me much hope & determination to keep fighting!
