I went to Mexico City recently and visited Handshake, #1 on the world’s best bars list. I had to recreate a few of my favorites. 1. Butter mushroom old fashioned: Michter’s Bourbon - Brown Butter Mushroom - Walnut - Maple I think fat washing liquor with brown butter is a cheat code. It’ll make any liquor easy to drink. 2. Matcha dame blanche: Beefeater Gin - Matcha Tea - Vanilla - Greek Yogurt - White Chocolate I used @Lance ‘s recipe but used lemon instead of citric acid solution. This one drink used 10g of high quality matcha... I tried this recipe 3x and while it turned out great, I don’t think I’ll attempt it again. I’ll have to go back to Mexico City if I want this drink, can’t make it like Handshake! 3. Guava + Jasmine; Bushmills 10 Irish Whiskey - Guava Citrus - Jasmine Tea Jasmine tea is my adversary when it comes to making cocktails. Iykyk. I can never get the flavor strong enough to taste it in my cocktails! 4. Mexi-Thai A round of applause for this drink. Very unique! #handshakespeakeasy #mexicocity #cocktails
