REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. From the day I learned that I was going to be making a musical I had always wanted Anthony Stewart Head as my Repo Man. But, as things go in Hollywood I was pressured to go with a bigger name that would appeal to foreign as well as domestic distributors. After a slew of terrible ideas I was finally presented with Patrick Swayze. I took a meeting with him and I was taken by how charismatic and amazing he actually was. He was cast as the Repo Man. Over the next few weeks Patrick came into the studio and laid down tracks for numerous songs.. he was pretty fucking amazing. Then, one fateful afternoon I got the phone call weeks before we were going into production in Toronto that Patrick had to bow out due to health concerns... I was sad, but also excited that I had another bite at the apple with Anthony. I went online and bought a dozen DVD’s of Buffy The Vampire’s musical ONCE MORE WITH FEELING. I hand delivered all the DVD’s. A few hours later I got a call from our producer’s, everyone agreed!!!! ASH was our man! We flew him in town and quickly got him into the studio... It was fucking magical. It was like hearing a rock ‘n’ roll angel sing!!! He made me weak in my knees. And with that - The final actor was placed. In the end, I was able to cast 100% of my number 1 choices in the film. (Big shout out to @costumealex who I credit with this baby having the cult following it has. Her costume design was next level.)
