My Frydek came back from the dead! 💀➡️🪴 This guy was down to his last leaf back in May of 2021 & I thought for sure he was gone. I decided to not give up hope, made a few changes, & BAM! Look at him now! 🤩 Here’s what I changed: 💦 Allow the soil to dry between waterings - I used to have a heavy hand with this guy because I thought he’d want his soil to be kept moist. That wasn’t working so I I began to water it less, really allowing the soil to dry before i watered it again. Another sign that I looked for was whenever I noticed the leaves beginning to droop, it was telling me it needed water 💦 Bottom water - Which was proven to do miracles for this guy because the roots are getting direct access to the water. I just take a Tupperware, fill it with water & leave the the plant in for about 30 mins. If I noticed the water is soaking up very quickly & is gone by the 30 min mark, I’ll go ahead and a little bit more and leave it for a few more minutes. If the water is still there by the 30 min mark, I won’t add any more ☀️ BRIGHT indirect light - LIGHT! I learned that Alocasias like a lot of light so I moved him across a south facing window. He now gets bright indirect light throughout the day. Be careful for direct light which may burn their leaves. Hope this helps with your Frydek or any Alocasias!
