“The Unspeakable Loss” Yes, we went there with this heartbreaking set with @minakess and @aaronriven as Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker. It was well worth the effort to recreate this tragic, yet iconic moment in Spider-man lore. It’s truly a testament to the power of stories on how they can communicate such basic human ideas and concepts all while being wrapped in a fantastical setting. When fans of Spider-man hear the words “She was my MJ” or “Are you Ok,” they are immediately brought back into the world of Andrew Garfield’s spider-man and his unspeakable loss and devastating failure. A world filled with guilt, brought on by the realization that he lost someone so dear to him. Loss is a hell of a thing. In the course of our lives, we will lose people. That’s just the nature of being human. The smiles and good memories are left in the past as echos of times gone by. How do we process that loss? How do we move on? Is there even a “right” way of moving forward? The journey Peter took after losing Gwen was as impactful as it was insightful. A period of bitterness and rage followed by the realization that his actions are not what our loved one would have wanted of us. When we lose, our emotions are raw and unfiltered. Over time, Peter would heal and use that energy to help others in need. Helping MCU Peter from going down his dark path and eventually saving MJ in a mirror of how he lost Gwen. “Are you Ok?” I suppose that’s the thing. The actions that The Amazing Spider-man would take would make Gwen proud. It honored her memory. When we lose someone, memories are all we have left.
