This month, I am celebrating 9 years of living in NYC 💞 I came here after I graduated college with two suitcases, 860 dollars in my account, and a one-way ticket. I moved into a bedroom the size of a closet in Bushwick. The building was shutdown two months later because of a rat infestation. I found a place down the street on craigslist, threw my stuff into trash bags and walked them down the street. After that, I had a two month stint in the east village with a painter, then moved back to brooklyn. Lived there until I met my ex-husband, then moved in with him on the Upper West Side. Together, we spent four years in Soho and almost half a year on 5th Avenue. After that midtown apartment, I found my own place in Chelsea. The parlor floor in a beautiful brownstone. It was the first time I ever lived alone here. After a little over a year there, my time was up, and I’m now in the East Village. Ten apartment, three broken hearts, one girlfriend, many boyfriends, so much art and experience. New York, you are the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. My home sweet home, forever and ever.
