Fashion Ones to Watch 2022 New Names to Note by @britishvogue: Aleksandra Blinova @aleksandrablinova is an artisanal couture designer, recently graduated in MA Fashion Design in Central Saint Martins. She has participated in the London Fashion Week show for Fall/Winter 2022 and is a L’Oreal Professionnel scholar. Coming from Riga, Latvia, she has completed her BA in University of Westminster. Aleksandra interned and worked for such companies as Loewe, Balmain, Viktor & Rolf and Erdem. Her collections are created by hand. Taking inspiration from self-sourced research images, she is working with recreating their colour and textures. Aleksandra’s working process is based on a concept of allowing hand manipulated textiles and embroidery to dictate its own shape and silhouette. Essentially, she discovers the garment by letting it take itʼs natural form of constant. Aleksandra is inspired by the poetry of her surroundings, capturing their natural movements, volumes and fragility. Hand-manipulation and stitching not only shows itʼs delicacy and complexity in technique, but serve as a homage to hand-made garments of centuries before, but also ensures this piece to resemble a singular and unique existence, equal to a human. ✨
