How tattoos work ⬇️ 🧬 Ink-dipped needles puncture the epidermis, depositing ink into the dermis layer of the skin. Special cells (macrophages and fibroblasts) in the dermis keep that tattoo pigment in place. We now know that some of that ink does travel to your lymph nodes over time.
