This breaks my heart. Corey Hixon, the son of Christopher Hixon, who was one of 17 people killed in the Parkland high school shooting, gave a victim impact statement today in court. “I miss him,” Corey told members of the jury while holding back tears.
Chris Hixon was the athletic director at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and he ran back into the building that day to try and stop the shooter. Chris’s wife Debbi said in an interview with WLRN that Corey has vivid memories of the day his dad was killed. “Corey thinks because Chris died, no one else should have died. Because Chris was trying to save them,” Debbi explained.
