I took some time over Christmas to reflect on the last year of creative work and here are a few takeaways and strategies for the new year for me. (1) Firstly, I miss taking photos. I miss creatively obsessing over the composition of my instagram feed. (something that’s been incredibly difficult to do while posting reels) I miss wrapping up the year with a catalog of photo based projects I shot for myself. So here’s what I’m going to do moving forward. I want to make my photo feed and reel feed completely independent of each other. Shortly after I publish a reel. I’ll banish it to the reel feed alone so we can maintain the sanctity and cleanness of the reel feed. This’ll allow me to focus more on image projects solely. It’ll drive me to make more photos in 2023 which I’m very excited about (2) I’ve fallen in love with short form video and my ability to tell more stories and teach more about my various interest like budget travel, and vintage photographers. I’ll keep making the videos almost as frequently as I make stills. So if you like my reels and tik toes, you have nothing to worry about they’ll still be there. (3) Something I’ve neglected over the last few years is truly cultivating a community rather than a 1 dimensional relationship with you and I’m looking for way to improve that over the next year.
