"I just finished a long-time project in Alaska. This particular mountain is called Golgotha. It was a pinnacle moment in my career. We went through so much trying the same mountain since 2016. It felt like hitting myself in the head with a hammer over and over. Learn how to read weather and conditions. Hone the ability to see a route of that scale and calculate how your body and your climbing skill need to be up to the task of climbing such a big route in a timely manner. Strike a balance between going too light and too heavy. I learned a lot about alpine climbing on this mountain. I learned about persevering on an objective. Sometimes, when you get on a hard route it may seem impossible and totally out of your ability but trust and believe in yourself.
