"This was my first time shooting film. When you know you have a limited amount of shots you can shoot per scene, you approach pre-production in an entirely new way. For someone who likes to have absolute creative control over the tiniest things, it was interesting to see how giving up some of that control and having certain limitations can result in unexpectedly beautiful results. Due to its broad subject matter, we wanted the film to be as universally approachable as possible - violence knows no borders, age or gender, so we wanted it to appeal to as many people as possible. The look and feel of 16mm film helped achieve that in a way it wouldn’t have been possible on any other digital camera."
