Once again, crawling out of my hobbit hole to hurl my gratitude out into the universe. This year has blessed me with so much already: my 3yo son is finally learning to use his hips when he dances (just like dada), I can finally ollie on a skateboard (sketchy af 🤘🏻), and now we are fortunate enough to begin this wonderful relationship with Universal. This is another one of those pinch-me-I’m-dreaming moments I keep having this year. We know how rare it is in this industry to have the opportunity to build a long sustainable career making original films, so we have been completely blown away by Donna’s (and her whole Universal team’s) commitment to letting us continue telling our own stories with our own process, but with more resources than we ever thought possible for dorks like us. To the fans who are worried this will all go to our heads, I’m sorry, it might be too late. This year has been great for my ego and terrible for my mental health 🫠 we have already become monsters. But rest assured, we are monsters who have no intention of growing too fast (too furious?), and hope to continue our slow and steady maturation as filmmakers who just want use this opportunity to experiment, learn, and play. We’ll go bigger, we’ll go smaller, maybe a family friendly film...? Who knows. All I know is how grateful we are. So grateful for the hundreds of people who helped us get to this point. For the countless people who went out and supported the film. For A24 who was the best partner anyone could ask for (and who we will continue working closely with in TV).
