Did you know you can pair your tea with the perfect food – just like wine? Tea sommelier, anyone?
Black Teas
Flavor: earthy and robust
Traditional black teas like English Breakfast pair well with rich breakfasts and other heartier meals, like cooked eggs, red meats or substantial pastas. Spiced black teas like Earl Grey go well with eggs, creamy cheeses or chocolate.
Green Teas
Flavor: vegetal and grassy
Traditional green teas (Sencha) pair well with veggie dishes, sushi, white meat, light curries, rice dishes and salads. Stronger umami flavored teas (Matcha) go well with seafood. Floral green teas (Jasmine) are great with spicy food, potatoes and spicy desserts like carrot cake. Mint green teas are excellent with nuts.
Oolong Teas
Flavor: complex and roasty
Oolongs pair well with herbed dishes, smoked cheeses and meats, light breads and butter, and fruity desserts.
White Teas
Flavor: gentle and subtle
The delicacy of white teas means they're typically best enjoyed on their own. They can also pair well with light dishes like barely-seasoned white fish or mild cheeses and light salads.
