Found this Gem from back in April, 2019! I had the privilege to be a part of a cool training video; regarding #typeonediabetes and the care it takes to administer the proper medication and care for the elderly, that are afflicted with this debilitating disease. Here I play "Carlos", a Brazilian/American young adult, who has been bestowed the task of taking care of his "Avo". While Carlos means well and isn't a bad guy, his lack of knowledge regarding #type1diabetes and his exploration for life, has lead to some serious medical issues, his Grandmother or "Avo" has to now deal with. Adult Protective Services Workforce Innovations or (A.P.S.W.I.), partnered with 'The Academy SDSU' was able to put this one on! It is important to go through proper medical care training, especially with thise we care for on our own. It is never easy dealing with these types of afflictions, but the more educated and prepared we are, the easier life and all of it's facilities become. SHOUT-OUT TO @zoey_walker & @shamonfreitas "Caregiver Neglect Allegation, Home Visit: Alleged Perpetrator Interview, This training video is designed to support APS professionals in building their confidence and ability to interview an Alleged Perpetrator. It demonstrates best practices regarding the following topics: addressing cultural differences, recovering from mistakes while conducting an interview, redirecting the interview; and how to start a conversation about resources. This is a great tool for Supervisors to use when meeting individually with staff and/or in team meetings to reinforce or coach staff around interviewing skills and to support the transfer of learning from Core training to practice in the field. This video can also be used by trainers to reinforce learning objectives and skills during training." -A.P.S.W.I. #type1 #typeone #diabetes #actor
