I finally *made* some time to live draw today in between meetings and production calls. In my own studio, imagine! I watched my wonderful studio mate and confidante @Georgia_Hodges (with her studio dog Luna) throwing bowls with clay. We had some time to talk. It’s been a while. The irony of sharing so much about the creative process on my active book tour is that I’ve had no time to be much of an artist these last few months.
I moved into the studio five years ago, and I credit this space for so much of me claiming my creative mandate. Having a place where I could reduce and rebuild myself as an artist every day that I am here has given me the quiet confidence to embrace much more ambition in my work than I otherwise would not have given myself permission to do.
Sharing a space with Georgia has allowed us each to reflect the invisible aspects of an artistic path to each other. It is with her that I learned that being a ceramicist is not about shaping clay, it is about working with the earth.
That’s all to say, that we are having a MUDROOM HOLIDAY SALE next weekend. Saturday Dec 17th, 11am to 7pm. I’m burying the headline, I know.
She will be selling her ceramics, and I will be selling and signing copies of my book and posters. We decided to make it informal and welcoming, just like us.
