***Breaking News***⠀ ⠀ Sometimes others see in you your potential long before you do. ⠀ ⠀ This was an award from my college dorm RA in 1997 “most likely to start her own purple makeup line.”⠀ ⠀ So when I was offered the chance to lead Urban Decay it felt exactly where I needed to go - even if it meant disrupting everything in such a disruptive year. ⠀ ⠀ A few weeks in and I bleed purple for my UD family. I feel at home at work as much as I do in my own home because I followed my mission - no matter what role I take on, it needs to help me further my purpose and passion. ⠀ ⠀ It needs to be where I can help others stand in their difference because I won’t stop until everyone is comfortable in the skin that they are in. It’s a mission that transcends roles and inspires me in all that I do. ⠀ And yet there are times it’s not easy or it feels like a lot. Even with so much to tell, I took a small break from social media because it was hard to celebrate when there’s so much more I wish I can do to change what I see happening around us, but then I remembered why I am here.... mentorship for the next gen of diverse voices. I hope this news reminds you that a career is a journey, a path you trip on along the way, but when you look back you realize your passion and purpose is the one thread that ties it together. ⠀ So let’s keep sharing for each other, even if it’s hard out there right now.
