(“Hailed as the impossible railroad when it was completed, many said it was a triumph for man over harsh nature. The line itself was completed in 1919, and it connected San Diego with Yuma.”) This hike along the beautiful train tracks inside Carrizo Canyon is filled with wooden bridges, tunnels (one over 1/2 mile long and you definitely need a headlamp or flashlight), graffitied, abandoned train cars, some old machinery, fallen train cars down the mountain, and so much more.
