Five years ago today, I was trying to get home to NYC after a run of shows on the East Coast, but my flight in Charlotte was canceled due to a storm system that spanned most of the eastern corridor. There were no flights going out and the airport was absolute mayhem. I acted quickly with the help of my managers (@russelldcarter) and got the last rental car at Enterprise. I drove 9 hours back to NYC in the most wicked, treacherous weather. I walked into our apartment at 4am and was up two hours later with the boys. (Everett had a dr. appointment to remove stitches from his ear.) I’ve spent decades of my life in transit— going to work and trying to get home. To all the musicians, crews, bus drivers, merch-slingers, dancers, road managers, agents, tour support and beyond... I see you. Few people understand what it takes for you to get to work and for you to make it back home. 💚
