Have you ever received props from a surfer you respected? Maybe it was as simple as “great wave” or a head nod. Well, you can image how our first recipients felt being recognized by our expert panel including Peter Mel, Kai Lenny, Andrew Cotton, Justine Dupont, and Grant “Twiggy” Baker. We teamed up with Heavy Water Surf to create the Big Wave Surfers fund as part of #twentyfootplus. This program will provide financial support to selected members of the big-wave surfing community, for a range of accomplishments and contributions to the sport. Surfers can be nominated for this support by others in the big-wave community, who’ve witnessed their feats during notable swells. Europe’s extraordinary XXL season saw quite a few rides worthy of the Big Wave Surfers’ Fund support.
