Switched it up last weekend! There were people swimming and running after the bike race. And they were all wearing these funny helmets on the bike. Very strange and confusing. I still got up at 4:00am. I still spent 10 hours in a kit, drinking water, eating snacks and trying not to get sunburned. But this time I got to be the one chasing the action! Kona had been hanging over @emmerlin’s head since he qualified in June of 2021. I watched him train and re-train when it was rescheduled twice due to covid. It was pretty unbelievable to finally experience what everyone talks about. Whew, what a crazy event. The heat was real. The energy was contagious. That finish line will make anyone cry. So thankful I could be there to witness it (*witness being the key word. I was exhausted just cheering!) Congrats to everyone out there! Families, athletes, volunteers, staff, locals. That’s not an easy weekend for anyone to get through. And thank you to everyone who said hi throughout the week.
