This time last week @finnstagramd and I were finally making our way out of the desert. It was my 10th Burn, Finn’s first and my first with a partner. This year felt different and hard for many reasons. Leaving the playa I kept thinking maybe this year just wasn’t “my” year. And it wasn’t. It was Finn’s. It was Finn in his full purpose and power: being in service of others. He showed up days early to build our Hōme. On the first official night, he cooked dinner for 200 people. He sourced and cut vintage tea spoons and fashioned necklaces as gifts - taking time to meticulously write notes and lug a duffle bag everywhere, ready to bestow any new friends with a token of their encounter. He hosted an impromptu poetry slam at @pineapplemotel, sharing his own poem written to honor the engagement of our lovelies @leonpki and @tanjawiding. I watched person after person fall in love with his generosity and spirit. And what a gift to see your partner for the first time again and again through the gaze of a stranger. I learned many lessons this year - mostly what it can mean to embody service as a source of joy. Something so obvious, but more profound when it’s your love teaching the lesson.
