@theignantintellectual betta preach THIS word! For the delicate among us, sorry for the language but this truth needs to be said and tagged onto the live I posted yesterday. They are 100% right. If you’re going to check-in on someone check-in on them without judgement. Check-in on them without making it about you. Check-in on them without making light of their struggles. Even if their struggles aren’t your struggles that doesn’t make them any less valid. And yes, we all know it could all be worse. No matter where they or you are in life somebody somewhere does have it worse...but that doesn’t negate that their (or your pain) isn’t real. There are no pain Olympics. There’s no struggle hall of fame. Life is rough in some way and in some SEASONS for EVER dang body. And as @sir_twitch_alot’s passing shows us, some folks are going thru with a smile on their face while being #BookedAndBusy. I can only imagine what some would’ve said to Stephen if he shared his pain and struggles. Take a moment and truly THINK about that. ALL of this — everything we see, do, have and endure in life is experienced thru the lens of our own feelings and memories and current spirit-capacity. What’s a cakewalk for you may be devastating for another and vice versa. But that doesn’t mean you get to belittle or ridicule someone who is going thru something that wouldn’t destroy you. If you are going to care about people actually CARE about people — without judgement or prejudice — or sit the half-hearted, done just to “pat yourself on the back” check-in out. Someone with actually empathy will tap in in your place. That’s how good God is. Love y’all, mean it.
