What a ride these past couple of years have been. š®āšØ How Right Now and I #Partnered up to show how I navigated through the life-changing events of Covid-19.
With the unknown of the pandemic, there were many times I felt anxious about potentially getting sick, my elders being safe, and the Native community being highly effected by the virus. As the days went by, I knew I couldnāt allow myself to succumb to those negative emotions.
I knew I needed to find healthy coping skills to strengthen my emotional well-being, which was art. Growing up, I always turned to creative projects, and I knew I could express myself better in that way. During the height of the pandemic, I created loads of makeup looks and took various self-portraits. The process of these activities helped me be in the moment rather than spiraling into the unknown of the pandemic. Recently, Iāve picked up beading and still practice photography. Itās something that brings me joy, sitting down with my beads, listening to my favorite music, with an iced coffee not too far.
Itās odd sometimes to think things are back to ānormalā when that term has changed for many. There are still those stressful, anxious moments but having tools to minimize them makes life easier to navigate. Do you have hobbies that you turn to in moments of stress? I would love to hear what brings you a sense of peace.
How Right Now has helpful resources to start the discussion of your emotional well-being. They make it easy by having filters to choose informational aids by the emotions youāre feeling. Check it out at https://bit.ly/3xnudQr or click the link in my bio.
