Because diamonds can take up to--get ready--3 BILLION years to form naturally, we don't really count natural diamonds as a renewable source. There's a limited supply of them available to us now, and the diamond industry is stopping at nothing to get to them! ββββββββ

By contrast, a mussel (where we get freshwater pearls) can produce up to 30 pearls in just 6 months! Freshwater pearls come from a renewable source, and can be farmed ethically in ways that wont harm the mussel that they were grown in. π¦ͺ ββββββββ
